A Message from Jess Conard, Beyond Plastics Appalachia Director in East Palestine Ohio:
For the past two+ years, my neighbors and I have demanded action to help us deal with these toxic impacts and prevent another vinyl chloride disaster from occurring but not nearly enough has been done.
Despite our deep roots in East Palestine, my family has experienced place disruption, and we are now relocated to avoid continued exposure to the toxic chemicals that were released when the vinyl chloride burned. We also want to be far from any future derailments because train cars full of vinyl chloride continue to travel through East Palestine on their way to being turned into PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic.
PVC (also called vinyl) is a common plastic that's used all around us and sold by major retailers. Building materials like flooring, siding, and piping account for approximately 70% of all PVC created.
In order to keep our communities safe, we need to ban this poison plastic in the building material sector. 🚫
The Home Depot is the largest home improvement chain in the U.S. and one of the largest sellers of PVC in the world. It has the power to stop selling PVC and help prevent the next vinyl chloride disaster.
Urge Home Depot to STOP Selling this Poison Plastic.

Tuesdays at Noon: Contact templetonagainsttoxicgmail.com
Agenda: goals & priorities follow up on weekend meetings
Yard signs: $5.00 each. Made with paperboard, nontoxic inks, and non-galvanized stand. Light plastic coating keeps them weather proof for months. Why “no secret deals”? TCATW is against the plant, not individuals. This is not an accusation but an expectation. Public records show deals have been offered. No one wants a plastic incineration plant - so the message is: That was a mistake! We all make mistakes but please don’t offer any more deals because the community opposes this. ANOTHER WAY TO GIVE: Go Fund Me.
Please choose activity according to your special skills and/or interests. Suggest an activity not already on the list if you want! Your commitment to performing any task no matter how small is valued! An hour or less a week is all it takes to preserve and protect your town, your home.
